Emma is a passionate health professional who has a background in both support work and paramedicine. She lives in Gisborne with her partner and fur-babies. Her lived experiences with autism and mental health have ignited a desire to generate systemic change within the healthcare system, in order to better accommodate the needs of neurodiverse individuals. Emma is driven to support individuals in reaching their physical and mental health goals through neuro-affirming, personalised care that focuses on self-efficacy and resilience.
Emma enjoys spending time with her pets, gardening, and staying active. She is an avid watcher of both crime and medical TV shows, with her favourites being Criminal Minds, 9-1-1, The Rookie and Grey’s Anatomy. She also loves to read (mostly fiction) books, often sappy romance books but recently introducing some fantasy into the mix as well.
Emma’s clinical background has seen her work with a diverse range of clientele across all stages of the lifespan. Irrespective of age, she has noticed a pervasive pattern of chronic ill-health for many neurodiverse individuals. Emma’s extensive understanding of both physiology and psychology uniquely positions her to assist individuals in understanding and addressing the complexities of the human body and mind. Emma’s therapeutic approach is driven by an understanding that no two people have the same experience with neurodiversity. Her goal is to support clients in all aspects of their well-being, utilising practical knowledge and skills to develop person-centred care plans that focus on the individual’s unique circumstances.
